Prof. Gao Shaorong, 1989 alumnus of Shandong Agricultural University majoring in Animal Husbandry, Dean of College of Life Science and Technology of Tongji University, was elected Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. According to statistics, Gao Shaorong is the 14th national academician cultivated by our university since its establishment.
Profile of Academician Gao Shaorong
Gao Shaorong, born in March 1970, from Zhangqiu, Shandong. He is currently the dean of the College of Life Science and Technology of Tongji University, and the director of the Frontier Science Center of "Cell Stemness and Fate Editing" of the Ministry of Education. He is a special Professor of Changjiang Scholars of the Ministry of Education, a winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, and a leading talent of the "10,000 People Plan" of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. He is a member of the expert group of the National key research and development Program and vice president of the Chinese Society of Cell Biology.
Gao Shaorong has long been engaged in the research on the epigenetic regulatory mechanisms of embryonic development and somatic Cell reprogrammin. He has published more than 100 papers in Nature, Science, Cell Stem Cell, Nature Cell Biology and other internationally renowned academic journals as corresponding (including co-authors). The research results have been selected as the world's top ten medical breakthroughs and China's top ten advances in life science. He won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the first Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, the first prize of the Shanghai Natural Science Award, and the National Innovation Award, the Zhou Guangzhao Foundation Outstanding Youth Basic Science Award, Tan Jiazhen Life Science Innovation Award, and the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Chinese Society for Cell Biology as the first person. The leading stem cell biology teacher team was awarded "National University Huang Danian teacher Team".
