Recently, the China Engineering Education Professional Accreditation Association and the Higher Education Teaching Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education jointly issued the conclusion of the 2019 engineering education certification. The water conservancy and hydropower engineering major of Shandong Agricultural University successfully passed the engineering education certification and was included in the mutual recognition list of the Washington Agreement, valid from 2020 to 2025. It also indicates that the training system and teaching quality of water conservancy and hydropower engineering major in our university are up to the international engineering education standards.
A total of about 1200 majors in colleges and universities across the country submitted certification applications to the China Engineering Education Certification Association in 2019. After evaluation, a total of 688 majors were accepted for engineering education certification, and finally 402 majors were certified in engineering education. The overall pass rate is only about 30%.
The water conservancy and hydropower engineering major of Shandong Agricultural University originated from the farmland water conservancy engineering major set up in 1956. It was approved as the undergraduate major of water conservancy and hydropower engineering in 2000 and granted the right to issue the master's degree of water conservancy and hydropower engineering in 2003. In 2017, it gained the authorization of master's degree in first-tier discipline. In 2012, it was selected as the key discipline of Shandong province. In 2016 and 2019, it passed the international engineering professional certification twice. It was ranked into the national first-class majors in 2019. It is the characteristic major of Shandong province, the development support plan of applied talents training in ordinary undergraduate colleges and universities in Shandong province, and the construction project of famous higher education schools in Shandong province.
